According to recent claims from a informant, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, currently serving a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a commutation application for review by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a source provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unclear, Raskin added.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for her and her guests.

These meetings reportedly involve a designated private space for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and chance of unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was provided directions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Other privileges reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson noted.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her previous prison.

In August, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most detainees are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as the President's private attorney.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

In the news release, Raskin also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and urged the chief executive to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant criminal,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

He inquired whether Trump had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to arrange her with the transfer or special conditions in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
